Speech Pathology

At Colour My World Therapy Services, our Speech Pathology team supports individuals – primarily children and adolescents – in developing communication skills that help them connect, express themselves and participate confidently in everyday life. We recognise that communication is deeply personal and diverse, and we honour each individual’s unique way of interacting with the world.
Whether it’s supporting speech clarity, understanding language, using augmentative communication, or navigating social communication differences, we provide respectful and affirming support tailored to each person’s strengths, needs and goals.
While we primarily work with children, we also support young people and families navigating developmental differences or communication challenges across the lifespan.
Our Services Include:
We support children who are experiencing:
- Speech sound differences: Including difficulties with articulation, phonology, or motor speech (e.g., apraxia).
- Language development: Supporting expressive and receptive language – how children use and understand words and sentences.
- Social communication: Helping children understand social rules, perspective-taking, and connection through neurodivergent-affirming approaches.
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC): Supporting children who use or may benefit from AAC, including speech-generating devices, visuals, and sign.
- Stuttering and fluency: Respectfully supporting children who stutter, focusing on confidence, communication comfort, and identity.
- Literacy foundations: Early support in phonological awareness, narrative skills and vocabulary development.
Our approach is playful, respectful and developmentally attuned. We support each child in a way that honours their autonomy, communication preferences and neurotype.
For older children and teens, speech therapy can assist with:
- Language support for academic success and life skills
- Self-advocacy, including communicating needs and navigating support systems
- Social communication and relationship skills, in ways that respect individual identity and neurodivergent communication styles
- Literacy and written expression
- Transition planning and functional communication for work, study and independence
We understand that supporting a child’s communication journey is about more than just sessions – it’s about collaboration and trust. We work alongside families to:
- Understand your child’s communication profile: We explain assessments and therapy approaches in accessible, jargon-free language.
- Build everyday strategies: We offer practical tools for supporting communication in real-life situations – at home, in the community or at school.
- Celebrate communication in all forms: We support spoken and non-spoken communication equally and work with you to understand and respect your child’s preferred communication style.
- Collaborate across settings: We liaise with educators, allied health professionals and support teams to ensure consistent, respectful support across environments.
We offer comprehensive speech and language assessments for:
- Diagnostic clarification or support planning
- NDIS access and review
- School applications and IEP development
- Goal setting and functional communication planning
All assessments are strengths-based and neuroaffirming. Our reports aim to highlight each person’s communication abilities and potential, alongside any supports that may be beneficial. We’re happy to walk families through the findings and support next steps.
We offer speech therapy sessions in-person at our Osborne Park clinic or via Telehealth, depending on individual needs and preferences. Sessions are led by the client’s goals and interests, and are designed to be enjoyable, collaborative and empowering.
