Adolescent Services

Healthy emotional and social development in our early years lay the foundation for mental health and resilience throughout the lifespan.

Yet, 70 per cent of persons living with a mental illness see their symptoms begin before age 18.

Youth who need mental health services as they are entering the adult mental health system are often not well supported: less than 20 per cent receive appropriate treatment — a figure close to the number of children receiving needed mental health services.

Assessments

Our skilled and experienced practitioners can complete the following assessments for adolescents:

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Specific Learning Disorder (eg Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia)

Intellectual Disability and Global Developmental Delay

Giftedness

Our referrals commonly come through Paediatricians, GP’s, schools and families themselves.

All psychological assessments and interventions are provided with extensive knowledge of working with adolescents and families. Through consultation with parents and clinical assessment, our adolescent friendly psychologists develop accurate clinical formulations that are detailed in a report.

Our reports are legal documents and are accepted by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in instances where Intellectual Disability or Autism Spectrum Disorder is identified.

Intervention

Individual consultation is provided face to face at our office in Osborne Park or via Telehealth where necessary or preferred. Colour My World Therapy Services also offers parenting support and Positive Behaviour Support planning.

Rebates for most intervention services can be accessed through a referred under a GP Mental Health Care Plan or a relevant referral from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.
